„Mekka Game” (engaged art)
100 x 100 x 100 cm
Sculptural installation „Mecca Game” (engaged art) stood in the centre of the gallery. It was a table for playing balls and its shape resembled the Kaaba, the most important Islamic shrine in Mecca. Bread balls soaked with Arab body oils became a symbol of Muslim womanhood.
The installation „Mecca Game”, as en engaged art, drew attention to the social tendency to accept different phenomena without questioning and deeper reflection on them. This seemingly careless game remained with participants for a long time. The Arab oils deeply penetrated the skin, reminding players of the „Mecca Game” experience,
The authors of the installation „Mecca Game” (engaged art) appeared under pseudonyms Margaret Oslo i Steffi Murch.
