Look at Me (New Capitoline Wolf)
H 211 x L 320 x W 76 cm
The alternative sculpture „Look at Me (New Capitoline Wolf)” refers to the Capitoline Wolf.
The idea behind the „Look at Me (New Capitoline Wolf)”is a constant metamorphosis referring to the changes taking place in the modern world. The word New as a part of the name emphasizes sometimes oppressive canons of beauty dictated by the Western media and popular culture.
New Capitoline Wolf, defeated by Western culture, lost her instinct. Wearing make-up, slimmed down and sucked out. Made by the modern canon of beauty generated by mass culture, the contemporary She-wolf feeds us not with milk, but with vanity.
As a fashion icon, She-wolf in each successive point shows the latest trends in fashion and make-up, she changes her hairstyles and accessories.
This alternative sculpture had its premiere in 2011 in London and from this time was exposed at many interesting events.
„Look at Me (New Capitoline Wolf)” was inspiration for fashion collection under the same title. and the sculpture was the key element of the show. The image of „Look at Me (New Capitoline Wolf)”was on clothes and the sculpture was placed on a platform at the beginning of the catwalk.
The sculpture „Look at Me (New Capitoline Wolf)” version 2016 on the picture is with national costume of China designed by Kamila Tuszyńska especially for NordArt 2017 in relation with the 45th anniversary of the admission of the diplomatic relations between Germany and China.
Unique for West is the Capitoline Wolf as an ancient symbol of Rome, associated with its mythology and founding, compiles with finely crafted and brightly colored national costume of China, reserved nowadays for various cultural ceremonies, festivals and religious events.
The New Capitoline Wolf 2016 is an allegory of New Silk Road – the way of cultural and aesthetic interactions between China and the rest of the world, which results in new quality in fashion, art and design and other fields of human activit
In the same year as „Look at Me (New Capitoline Wolf)” I created a limited edition of „Pony-Wof”. They are also hyper realistic sculptures, but they refer not only to Capitoline Wolf, but generally to wolves. Pony-Wolf is an anthropomorphic hybrid of the wolf and pony.
